Chinese Marketing Storyone, a SEO Opportunity.
You don’t know what those words mean? Or do you? Let me explain.
I was on Ahrefs looking for keywords to use for SEO, and there I saw it. Chinese Marketing Storyone. Three words that didn’t make sense to me. It happens, but the strange part was the high search volume and low competition of that Keyword. Weird.
I went to Google and typed it, there was only one website in the first page of Google actually using this word and ‘explaining’ it. This website - I won’t link it to not give it any backlinks - took the keyword, put it on ChatGPT and copy pasted the result to make an article that didn’t make any sense but managed to be on top of the first page of Google.
The crazy part is that this low-quality page was getting around 1,000 visits a month from what I gathered from Ahrefs.
That's a decent amount of traffic for very little effort. If you think about the ratio effort/result, it’s amazing.
But the question remains: what is that Keyword?
What Really is Chinese Marketing Storyone
Digging deeper, I found out that "Chinese Marketing Storyone" is somehow related to a marketing agency in Taiwan.
It's not clear why there are English searches for this term. Maybe it's a translation error, or there's a niche group interested in Taiwanese marketing practices. Anyway, the result is that there are searches for something, and almost no results that relate to it. That’s what’s called an opportunity.
I like opportunities, and you do too. So here’s what I did.
Content Farming is an Opportunity
The low effort website I visited is an example of "content farming" Here's the basic process:
1. Find weird keywords with decent search volume and low competition.
2. Use AI to quickly write articles about these keywords.
3. Publish these AI-generated articles with little to no editing.
4. Repeat this process for many different keywords.
This strategy is like shooting everywhere on the sky and sometimes you’ll hit a bird.
That type of website can put out dozens of articles a day, and they’ll most likely find a few success in the lot.
What Chinese Marketing Storyone Teaches Us About SEO
First of all, it’s clearly a search engine blind spot. Even if a keyword has no real meaning, somehow websites can rank for it by just writing random stuff.
Low-quality content shouldn't rank well, but it does. Why? Because AI can cheaply produce tons of content on any topic, stuffed with keywords. It's perfect for bloggers who only care about quick clicks and ad money.
This trick brings in traffic, but it's useless for readers. They click, find nothing helpful, and leave.
Google eventually catches and penalizes these sites. But before that happens, the blog owners can make good money with very little work.
So what do we do about it? Do we cry and roll on our beds? No, we fight back!
You can use that content farming as an opportunity. How?
First, find a content farm and just check the keywords they place themselves on, see the ones where they rank well even with a very bad article and write your own article on it. A high quality one. Parasiting the parasite.
That’s what I’m doing here, by using Chinese Marketing Storyone, I actually place myself on a keyword I know a content farm used with good results, while making something of value.
How to Find a Content Farm on Google?
The only answer is keywords. You need to find very low competition keywords that sound original - or weird - and check directly on Google if the competition is fierce, or non existent.
You can use the free Google Trends tool, or go directly on Google and go incognito. Something I do is add words that are very often used by ChatGPT, a classic one is ‘Dive into’.
If you see on Google results that very few websites wrote on the keyword you are searching for, go check the quality of the articles you find on the subject.
Is it bad?
Is the keyword used in weird places?
Is the website spamming articles on all sorts of subjects?
Bingo. You found a farm.
Of course this method is not an easy one, it’ll take time to find that type of websites, but that’s what makes it a pretty decent SEO tactic. If it was too easy, everyone would do it, right?
How to Parasite The Parasite SEO?
So you've found a content farm, what's next?
Analyze the farm using SEMrush or Ahrefs' free website checker tool to identify the most successful pages on the content farm. Look at the keywords they're ranking well for - these are your targets.
Now, write about these topics, but do it better. Use your real-life experience, add images, and be careful not using or overusing AI (Google's getting smarter at detecting AI-generated content).
The key to ranking well on Google is providing valuable information while naturally incorporating keywords. Think of it as a rhythm: Keyword - Value - Keyword - Value.
Expand your keyword list by finding related words to your main topic. For "Chinese Marketing Storyone," you might use terms like ads, profit, selling, or Taiwan. If it’s related, and if it makes sense adding it, do it. You’ll make your article longer and show Google you are a master on the subject.
In the case of Chinese Marketing Storyone there is nothing to say because it’s just the name of a Taiwan based company. So what do I do? I find an angle that is related to my niche, something interesting I can add value to. In this case, I talk about "Black Hat SEO" (unethical but not illegal SEO tactics).
Choose your battles. Not every keyword is worth writing on. Remember: don't become what you're fighting against. (There's a quote about that, right? Something about not becoming a monster when fighting monsters?)
Stay relevant to your niche. The content farm might rank for various unrelated topics (like candle-making or drama). Stick to subjects that align with your website's focus.
Before writing, Google your chosen keywords. Are the results directly related to the keyword or just loosely connected? Direct matches with low-quality content signal an opportunity.
If you find high-quality, on-topic content from authoritative sites, it might be best to look for easier targets. Use tools like Similarweb to gauge a site's authority.
If a keyword seems too competitive, go back to the content farm and find another opportunity. Keep repeating this process again and again until you find valuable, low-competition keywords in your niche.
Remember, the goal is to outsmart the content farm by providing value, not just to copy their tactics. Happy hunting!
End Words
I’ll not go deep into how to make high quality content, you won’t need a lot of effort to place better than ChatGPT on a subject anyway.
I’m just here to point out that there are websites out there that don’t deserve their position on Google’s ranking. And to show you how to make the best out of this fact.
Injustice is an opportunity for justice, not a frozen fact. Go on the internet, find those websites and make better content. You got this.
